On September 26, the three-day "Third Global Enterprise Innovation and Development Forum" kicked off in Qingdao, China. This forum brings together the elites of the three fields of government, business and learning, links domestic and foreign industry heavyweights, focuses on the industry, and helps enterprises to restructure and upgrade.

Jenny Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and a member of the Speaker Bureau and a board member of the Boao Forum for Asia, was invited to attend the forum and gave a wonderful speech.

Innovation is at the heart of the future, she says. But innovation often lacks the support of development strategies, and it is increasingly difficult to achieve high growth in established established companies and advanced economies. However, small and medium-sized enterprises are well positioned to seize the opportunity. This is because the biggest opportunity for the future is to develop strategies based on innovation and adaptability, leveraging existing comparative advantages through collaboration and innovation.

She praised the tremendous determination China has shown over the past 25 years, the growth environment it has fostered, its adherence to the rule of law, and important business investment and intellectual property rules for domestic and foreign companies, and said these actions are critical to its future success.

Shipley said China is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional economic transitions in recent history, setting new records in almost every way. Other economies that trade with China have also benefited, and I'm glad New Zealand is one of them. More than 25% of New Zealand's exports go to China and many successful joint ventures have benefited from this trend.

In her view, the keys to China's success include a comprehensive high-speed telecommunications network, a national road network that has achieved breakthroughs in logistics, a tiered revolution in transportation, and the rapid rollout of 5G networks. With 5G networks in particular, China has about a five-year lead over most other economies in the world and needs to take advantage of this advantage.

When looking for connected and complementary business opportunities, Shipley believes that we should think more from a 3D multidimensional perspective, rather than simply from the traditional 2D B2B or B2C perspective, only in this way can we maximize the advantages of China.

If we are to achieve an inclusive, sustainable and secure economic future that helps those who are currently in developing economies but have yet to reach their full potential, connectivity and participation are critical elements of whether we can achieve this, and this also presents opportunities for businesses. Differences are inevitable, and the main thing is to resolve these differences based on the principles of fairness and respect and find common solutions.

Finally, she stresses that as an entrepreneur in many business areas, you have to make your own strategic decisions about what to do next. To be a good leader, you must remember to focus on the future.
