Former French President Francois Hollande said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France, and the two countries enjoy a long history of friendship. China has achieved tremendous economic development in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. No other major country in the world has achieved such achievements in economic development in 40 years. France is very happy to establish links with China on the Belt and Road Initiative, and hopes that the EU as a whole can also strengthen cooperation with China under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Shaukat Aziz, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and board member of the Boao Forum for Asia, said that the Belt and Road Initiative has benefited many countries, and it is innovative and groundbreaking, answering the questions of regional cooperation and global cooperation of our time. Pakistan has been one of the important beneficiaries of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the infrastructure connectivity advocated by the "Belt and Road" has played a very good role in Pakistan.
Supachai Panitchpakdi, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, said that the "Belt and Road" plays an important role in promoting globalization. China has signed cooperation documents on the "Belt and Road" with more than 130 countries, which are "masters" of the initiative regardless of size. This is the first time we have such a choice.
Subsequently, the director of the Boao Forum for Asia, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaokat Aziz and former WTO Director General and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Supachai Panitchpakdi, together with their first edition of the "Overseas Silk Road Book Series", held the second and third book launch and author meetings at Sanya College on December 21 and Hainan University on December 22, respectively.
Shaukat Aziz said that the Belt and Road Initiative is not for the interests of a single person or country, but for the common development of the world. In the past few years, we have seen the opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative. The far-reaching impact of this initiative will also be seen in the future. China is committed to achieving connectivity with the rest of the world and developing various economic cooperation relations. And such connectivity can open up new opportunities for trade and cooperation, not just in infrastructure, but in other areas, enabling other countries to seize development opportunities.
Shaukat Aziz said Pakistan is a beneficiary of the Belt and Road Initiative and is already seeing returns from the Gwadar port of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Today, with the expansion of the port and the construction of a new airport and related service industry projects near the port, it has become a hub for Pakistan's economic development, promoting connectivity between Pakistan and other countries and promoting common prosperity. Under the "Belt and Road" framework, Pakistan will carry out more cooperation projects in transportation facilities and communication networks in the future.
Supachai Panitchpakdi, through the "Belt and Road" Initiative: The Road to Development-Led Globalization ", pointed out that the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" is in line with the trend of world multi-polarization, economic globalization, cultural diversity and social informatization. China has put forward the Belt and Road Initiative. All countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative should take the initiative as masters to promote inclusive globalization. Therefore, Supachai suggested that countries along the Belt and Road achieve economic policy coordination, carry out broader, higher level and deeper regional cooperation, jointly build an open, inclusive, balanced and inclusive regional economic cooperation framework, and achieve common regional and global governance.
Supachai Panitchpakdi believes that in the past decades, the global order is changing, and the problems faced by each country cannot be solved through unilateralism, but must join forces to achieve stability and development, support and help each other. The Belt and Road Initiative adheres to multilateralism and calls on everyone to join forces to tackle the common challenges facing mankind. This innovative concept will bring benefits to the world, and the Belt and Road Initiative should be taken positively.
