On January 11, 2020 China Manufacturing Forum was held in Foshan, where the government, business and academia gathered together in a famous manufacturing city to seek the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry under the changing global economy.
Peter Cochrane, former chief technology officer of British Telecom, technologist, polygraph and entrepreneur, was invited to attend the forum and gave a wonderful speech, he believes that in the era of Internet of Things, to ensure network security must be "pre-planned".

Peter Cochrane is a professional executive who manages several manufacturing facilities and has assembled more than 1,000 strong research and development and consulting teams. He has worked as a consultant for major companies and government departments including Cisco, Rolls-Royce, Ford, CSC, Ernst Young, HSBC, the UK Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Defence. "We are now in the stage of Industry 3.0, this stage has allowed us to achieve great achievements, but also experienced many challenges, such as global challenges, such as resource scarcity, environmental degradation, if we do not solve these problems, it is difficult to reach the true sense of Industry 4.0."
Peter Cochrane, using the circular economy as an example, believes that the challenge now is the emergence of new production technology methods and a new generation of materials, which are both challenges on the one hand and can bring us new solutions on the other hand. Many countries are making great efforts to recycle resources, which can now be achieved through the Internet.

In Peter Cochrane's view, most systems will be networked in the future, some devices are at the 3G level, some are at the 4G level, and some are entering the 5G level, which is an irreversible trend.
However, Peter Cochrane also mentioned in his speech that new technologies have also brought new problems to network security, and in the development of the Internet of Things, people will have certain concerns about network security. To achieve network security can not sit idly, can not be passive and wait, to actively anticipate what problems may occur, and even do deployment and prevention in advance. He said, "If there is a network security problem in the process of the Internet of things, the future trouble and impact are extremely large, so when we do the design, we are holding a kind of preparedness mentality, rather than a state of mind, to prevent first, rather than make up after the fact."
