Nikos was a former Greek Minister of Economy and Finance from 2001 to 2004. He is currently a professor of economics at the University of Athens in Economics and Business AUEB and a member of parliament. During his tenure, Nikos was appointed as the President of the European Union Council of Finance Ministers ECOFIN. He also chaired the European Group, including attending international conferences of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He has served as the Minister of Energy, Industry, Trade, Tourism, and Research and Development. Previously, he was an economic advisor to then Prime Minister Simitis. During his career, he gave lectures on economics at Charles University in Prague and also served in the Advanced Research Office of the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Nikos is a regular speaker at international economic and financial conferences.
