Friedrich Mertz is one of Germany's top lawyers and politicians. He is a partner of Meiyabo International Law Firm, mainly responsible for the company's business in Germany. His focus is on corporate legal affairs, including mergers and acquisitions, banking, finance, and regulatory enforcement. As a politician, he served as a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1994, a member of the German Bundestag from 1994 to 2009, and the President of the Christian Social Union\/Christian Social Union from 2000 to 2002. Before joining the law firm Meier&Bohr, Mertz was a partner of two German law firms in Cologne from 1989 to 2004 and provided services to the German Chemical Association in Frankfurt\/Bonn from 1986 to 89; He also served as a district judge in Salbruken from 1985 to 86.
