Norbert Lettgen, born in 1965, is a senior politician of the Christian Democratic League in Germany. He is one of the most eloquent and highly praised political figures in German politics. From 2009 to 2012, Lettgen served as the Federal Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety. After graduating in 1984, Norbert Lettgen studied law at the University of Bonn. He passed the judicial examination in 1989 and 1993, and engaged in legal practice in Cologne. In 2001, he obtained a doctoral degree in law from the University of Bonn. Letgen began his political career in high school. In 1982, he joined the CDU as the only student. From 1992 to 1996, he became the chairman of the Junge Union, a youth organization of the Christian Democratic League in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. In 1994, he was elected as a member of the West German Parliament. From 2001 to 2009, he served as the legal policy spokesperson and chief parliamentary secretary for the CDU\/CSU parliamentary group. In 2009, he rose to a high political position with his keen mind and analytical thinking - Angela Merkel appointed him as the Federal Minister for the Environment, Conservation of Nature, and Nuclear Safety, the highest political position he has held to date. Starting from November 2010, he became the Vice President of the German Christian Democratic Union and the President of the Northern Rhine Westphalia Christian Democratic Union.
