From 2004 to 14, Paranya Panchidambaram served as the Minister of Finance of India. During this period, after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, he served as the Minister of the Interior for three and a half years, starting from November 2008. Chidambaram is a corporate lawyer and an important member of the government led by the previous Congress. On September 15, 2014, the Indian National Assembly appointed Chidambaram as one of the 13 senior spokespersons. Chidambaram strictly controls government spending and has launched a grand tax reform plan to address the massive fiscal deficit. His practice of exempting farmers' debts has stimulated the overall demand of the Indian economy, helping India effectively avoid the impact of economic recession. After graduating from the Presidential College in Statistics at Dean's College in Chennai, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Madras University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
