He is the Chairman of Templeton Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Franklin Templeton Fund Group, renowned for investing in emerging markets and hailed by the Wall Street Journal as the godfather of emerging markets. Mark Mobiles is currently the chairman of the Franklin Templeton Fund Group, a subsidiary of Templeton Asset Management, the world's largest listed fund management company, responsible for emerging market research and portfolio management. Mobiles manages approximately $20 billion in emerging market equity assets and is responsible for guiding Templeton's analysis teams in 15 emerging markets worldwide, as well as managing emerging market investment portfolios. He joined Templeton in 1987 as the CEO of Templeton Emerging Markets Fund. Mobiles has over 30 years of experience in emerging market investment and research, and is known as the godfather of emerging markets. In 2006, he was selected by Asian Financial Magazine as one of the 100 most influential figures in the world. In 2001, he was awarded the Best Emerging Market Fund Manager of the Year by International Monetary Market Magazine. In 1999, he was selected as one of the top 10 currency managers of the 20th century in a survey conducted by Carson Group. In 1998, he was awarded one of the top 10 global investment masters by Money in the United States. He obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from Boston University in the United States, and a doctoral degree in Economics and Political Science from MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
