Jian Shixun served as the Chief Economist of HSBC for 17 years. Jian Shixun's famous book, The Solemn New World, was once described by former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers as a very important book at a critical moment. This book was published in 2017 and included in the FT-McKinsey Business Book of the Year. It was later selected as the Best Book of the Year by the Financial Times.
