Jerry Kaplan is a senior figure in Silicon Valley, renowned for his significant role in the tablet industry. Kaplan has established multiple technology companies, two of which have become public enterprises. He is the founder and CEO of GO, and previously co founded Teknowledge, one of the first artificial intelligence companies aimed at commercializing expert systems. In 1994, Kaplan co founded the world's first internet auction website, Onsale, which went public in 1997. In 2004, he founded the Winster.com website, pioneering the emerging market for social gaming. He served as the CEO of Winster.com for eight years. Currently, Kaplan is a researcher at the Center for Legal Informatics at Stanford University School of Law and a guest lecturer at Stanford University's top computer science department, primarily teaching the social and economic impacts of artificial intelligence. He is also an inventor with over ten patents. Kaplan has published three books, including the best-selling book \Startup: A Silicon Valley Adventure\ and \Humans Need Not Apply: A Guide to Wealth and Work in the Age of Artificial Intelligence\, which were named one of the \Top Ten Technology Books of 2015\ by The Economist magazine.
