Robert J Sawyer, recipient of the Order of Canada Governor General's Merit Award, is one of the only eight Canadians to have won the Hugo Award, Nebula Award, and John W Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction of the Year. He is also the only Canadian to receive this honor. Rob Rob was born in Ottawa in 1960 and first sold his work in 1980. In 1982, he became a salesperson at Bakka Books in Toronto. In the 1982-1983 academic year, he became a teaching assistant at the School of Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson School of Radio and Television Arts, and later became a full-time freelance writer since 1983. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts from Ryerson University in Toronto's Department of Radio and Television Arts in 1982 and two honorary doctoral degrees from Laurentian University in Canada in 2007, and another from the University of Winnipeg in 2014. According to the Locus Index to Science Fiction Awards, his novels have won more awards than anyone else in the history of science fiction and fantasy. Rob Rob has sold 23 novels to some major New York publishers, including Future FlashForward, which is the basis for ABC's TV series of the same name. Quill Quire, a Canadian publishing industry magazine, describes him as one of the 30 most influential, innovative, and purely powerful individuals in the Canadian publishing industry. Rob Rob has published relevant works in two of the world's top scientific journals - Science Invited Editorial and Nature Short Stories. In addition, he is a member of the editorial team of the Writers Guild of Canada and Writers Guild of America, respectively. As a futurist and science fiction novelist who won the Hugo Award, Robert J Sawyer is also a popular speaker.
