Michael Dobbs is the most famous political novelist and an active member of the House of Lords in the UK. From Margaret Thatcher's appointment as British Prime Minister to John Major's retirement from British politics 18 years later, he personally experienced many significant historical events. Michael Dobbs is a current affairs host and newspaper columnist for the BBC, holding a doctoral degree in nuclear defense research. He is also the Vice Chairman of Shengshi Great Wall International Advertising Company. Michael Dobbs, born in Hertfordshire, England in 1948, graduated from Oxford University and entered politics in 1975. He began writing speeches for Conservative MPs and quickly rose to prominence. He was known as the Baby Face Killer of Westminster and later served as Special Advisor to the government and Chief of Staff of the Thatcher government. He eventually retired from his position as Conservative Vice Chairman and was conferred a Baron by the British Crown in 2010. He is also a best-selling author, with over ten best-selling works including House of Cards. In 1989, his debut novel, The House of Cards, which tells the story of British officialdom, received great acclaim. The following year, it was turned into a television drama by the BBC and became popular worldwide.
